Deep Water Vineyard

Deep Water Vineyard sits among majestic live oaks on Wadmalaw Island, offering a 48-acre Lowcountry setting and the only domestic winery experience in Charleston, South Carolina. The property traces its roots to Irvin House Vineyard (founded in 2001) and transitioned to its current stewardship in 2015, continuing a local tradition of welcoming visitors to Charleston’s back porch. Tastings are $15 per person and include a souvenir stemless wine glass picked up in the gift shop after your tasting. The vineyard is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; plan to arrive by 4 p.m., as the last tasting typically starts then and runs 35 to 45 minutes. Entrance and parking are free during normal business hours, with fees only during four annual festivals. Reservations are not required, but groups of six or more can book private tastings. On weekdays you enter through the gift shop and usually wait no more than about 20 minutes. On Saturdays, check in at the tent, receive an ID bracelet, pick a sample wine slushie, and sign up for hourly tastings. While you wait, enjoy the outside bar with wine, wine slushies, draft meads, mimosas, and bloody marys. The grounds are kid and dog friendly, featuring swings, a swurfer, lawn games, and resident animals, plus ample open space to relax. Transportation partners are available, and visitors are encouraged to arrange rides in advance due to the rural setting.
